A select few get the opportunity to live their passion and even fewer get to make it their profession. The Fly Fishing guide market is very competitive and difficult to break into without proper training or a good connection.
Experience is important when you are trying to land a good job and The Guides Company Guide School will provide you with the necessary training to get you that first job in the world of fly fishing guiding! The Guides Company instructors are internationally acclaimed guides and they have guided, traveled and fished in some of the most remote destinations on the planet. They are experts in both fresh and saltwater fly-fishing and can teach you everything you need to know about becoming a fly-fishing guide.

If it’s not a career in fly fishing you looking for, but an edge on your best fishing buddy or simply want to better yourself as a angler. The Guides Company Guides School will teach you all the tricks of our trade.

In order to be a good guide you need to be a good fisherman. The Guides Company Fly Fishing Guides School can teach you the complex aspects and skills that can usually only be learned through experience and time on the water. Learning these skills will enable you to demonstrate your abilities to the next degree, to know your fishery intimately, and to give your client proper instruction.

We will not only teach you how to catch fish and identify new potential areas using key indicators in order to know exactly what to do when faced with new waters, but also how to plan and choose the most optimal days for fishing, food chain assessments, Fly selection, Knot selection – tying and rigging,  Fly casting and teaching techniques, river and power Boat maneuvering skills, even how to get the most out of your camera, capturing the moment in all its glory starting with proper fish management from the moment it fish is hooked.

The Guides School will once again be held at Karee Rapids and Van Der Kloof Dam this year from           25 September 2015 to 30 September 2015
Karee Rapids offers the best dry fly action for Small-mouth yellow fish in the land… The river runs clear over round polished boulders, forming exciting glides, pools, tail outs and eddies. Just about everywhere you look; there are bars of gold lined up, waiting for your fly to come drifting over to them.
Van Der Kloof dam is still wild and for the most part unexplored. Our students will have the opportunity to sight fish for Large-mouth yellow fish and Small-mouth yellow fish in a pristine and untouched environment. There are also large numbers of very large Sharp-Tooth Catfish up to 50lbs and Carp that can be sight fished.
