Central West Africa

The Guide’s Company has discovered an incredible tarpon fishery in Central West Africa, the Republic of Congo (Brazzaville). A large area of the fishing grounds border a large nature reserve with several river systems and coastal lagoons, lined by  mangrove trees.. These waters are home to large schools of tarpon. After numerous exploratory trips spanning two and a half years we have consistently landed very large tarpon around the 200 lb. range. Due to the remoteness of the area and the difficulty of reaching these waters by road it was decided that the most effective way to fish these waters would be by using an exploratory mother ship and flats skiffs.  This led to the birth of our mother ship” Chagos”which was built in the USA, as well as our 20 foot Spear Orca skiffs. We  believe we are now in a position  to host our guests in comfort and to provide a world class experience. Come and join us and experience the biggest tarpon in the world.

Inshore and blue water fishing will be done from the Pro V Orca skiff. Due to the movements of the tarpon this can mean; sight casting at huge laid-up tarpon on the backline, rolling fish in river mouths or fishing over reefs and structure.

Two anglers will fish per skiff and a TGC guide will take care of the skippering and guiding duties. Fishing times are adapted to tidal movement and weather conditions.

Chagos is a 95’ foot exploratory vessel, built by famous boat builder Sam Connor in 2012. She is equipped with the latest technology, specifically fitted for the sole purpose of  exploring the  waters on the west coast of Africa. Chagos will host only four anglers per week, in spacious double cabins, offering the clients excellent service.

The 20′ Spear Pro V Orca is a unique skiff, designed specifically for the West African waters. Although they are larger than most flats skiffs, they handle like a much smaller skiff. These skiffs provide anglers with a soft and dry ride. It floats in less than 12″ of water, and poles silently in any direction to the wind. It will easily carry four adults if desired, is very stable and will serve you well in whatever those waters will throw at you. The skiffs are equipped with Minn Kota trolling motors for stealthy manoeuvring. The 140 hp engines fitted to the skiffs allow us to cover distance, fast and comfortably.
